Is Dr. Fleming's book the final answer on heart disease? I don't know, but, I learned an amazing amount of information on diet and arterial damage resulting from poor food choices.And Fleming explains how cholesterol is a problem with cardiovascular disease, dispelling the claims of many authors such as Anthony Colpo or Johnny Bowden. Why? As Fleming notes, inflammatory foods including sugars and concentrated levels of saturated fats create arterial damage, which causes the body to produce and drive cholesterol into the artery walls which starts the process of "heart disease".Finally, Fleming takes on the naysayers by actually doing a 1:1 peer-reviewed study showing how his diet can actually reverse heart disease and dangerous factors such as escalated fibrinogen levels where Paleo diets actually raise them.

I have read at least a dozen or more books by Cardiologists and Health Gurus and I like this one the best. The author goes straight to the source of preventing and recovering from Cardiac disease and formulates a sensible and effective plan which is well documented outlining how one can overcome heart disease and live a full recovered life.Other books which are also very good at outlining the cause of disease and living a healthy life are offered by Joel Furhman and Neil Barnard. Although those others should be included in anyones library who is serious about staying healthy and preventing or recovering from heart disease, I personally feel from having read most heart disease and lifestyle change books that Stop Inflammation Now covers the subject the best.

Dr. Richard M. Fleming, a nuclear cardiologist and founder of the Fleming Heart and Health Institute in Omaha, Neb., examines the root cause of cardiovascular disease. Once his patients understand the cause of their disease, they are in a better position to become well with minimal or no use of drugs.Wellness is a good buzzword but is meaningless without an understanding of how to really be healthy. Dr. Flemming's book is written in layman's terms. The reader will understand the role that inflammation plays in not only heart disease but many other of the diseases normally associated with aging. This book is a must read for every health care provider and for every person who is being told that they should be taking a drug to prevent heart disease.

I have read, or tried to read, a number of books on diabetes, heart disease and realistic diets. I have actually learned a great deal from this book. It is written in such basic language that I actually understand what is going on in my body. Now I am able to take positive action and take steps to get healthier. I have recommended this book to everyone I know. The explanation of how your body processes food will dramatically impact how you look at diet and exercise forever, because for the first time, perhaps, you will really be able to understand it. The body is complicated, but now I can see and understand the big picture. Thank you Dr. Fleming for talking to me in terms I can understand, and telling me more than any doctor has in the past by supplying the missing puzzle pieces.

This book is about those people who need advice because of coronary/vascular problems. It does not cover inflammation of the digestive tract, so I had to get another book about that. This book does give a lot of details about diet but for those that experience high pressure and are over-weight. That is not the case with me.

Dr. Fleming's book is full of easy-to-read and simple-to-understand explanations of what goes on within your body. When you eat refined sugar vs. natural complex carbohydrates, when you eat meat vs. vegetables, the list goes on and on.By far, the BEST text I've ever read on the subject of Cholesterol and Heart Problems, since he also explains so many other related things that are involved in the process of digestion and absorbtion of vitamins/minerals.I can only give this book the HIGHEST recommendation for anyone out there interested in their own health. He gives you the information and steps necessary to save your own life by heeding the early warning signs of a probably heart attack in your upcoming years. BY ALL MEANS, IF YOU'VE EVER HAD EVEN A SINGLE CHEST PAIN: READ THIS BOOK! And better yet, with the C-RP Blood Test (that costs $10) you can learn of health problems years-in-advance of actual chest pains.(...)

My supervisor recommended this book to me when we were talking about health and cholesterol. My cholesterol had been consistently increasing. After reading the book and changing my diet to a plant based diet based on the scientific evidence and reasoning, I lowered my total cholesterol in about 3 weeks from 208 to 150. I also lowered my bad cholesterol (LDL) from 140 to 90 and increased my good cholesterol (HDL) from 55 to 57. I also very easily lost 10 pounds that I have kept off, and now seem to be holding at my ideal weight. I'm 5'8, male, around 40, and now weight 150. I also have less joint pain and I can run farther without feeling pain in my knees. Very Happy with this book and very happy with my own personnel results. I ended up buying this book and sending it to all my family and friends. :) :) :)

Not an atypical read as often are multimedia stories regarding weight loss, i.e., dieting as a convenience, fad or lifestyle. Weight loss is simply a side effect of the removal of very real current concerns of inflammation in the bloodstream. Blood clots moving through the circulatory system are a definite direct causation of strokes, heart attacks and stationary clots which block blood flow. There are very real "clear and present dangers" to the human species that are seldom discussed as preventable. The book is an excellent read for cardiologists who are "behind the curve" in the prevention of these medical problems. All opinions and conclusions are substanitated by the author. Well worth the time to read for those who wish to imporove upon a healty lifestyle and especially benefical for those who in the past have failed to have a healthy lifetyle.Lorenzo III
