Overall a very interesting story. I have a small problem with Elijah the prophet riding a motorcycle but, once I got past that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. An excellent way to spend several evenings. I look forward to exploring more of this author's writing.
There are many characters that are well developed throughout the 3 books. In some way, they all eventually intertwine in the plot. I could not put the trilogy down. It is a different approach to the end times.
Very boring. Did not finish it.
What a series!!! It has everything you could possibly want in a series: mystery, conspiracy, love, friendship, religion, bad-guy-turned-good-guy, a prophet, and more. And even with all of the religious settings and background, the characters are people you come to know and love. They are people in your neighborhood, people you go to church with; in other words, truly believable characters. The description of characters and environment is very detailed, but not to the point that it slows down the movement of the narrative; just enough to help you vividly picture the story in your mind. And while Dead Bones doesn't follow my religious beliefs of the End Times, it still gives me hope for the world we live in. Yes, it is fiction, but I chose to believe that there are still good people in this world and I refuse to give in to the negative influence of the world. Now don't get the idea that all is wine and roses in the trilogy; it's not. Each character goes through their trial by fire, but most (not all) come out on the other side. You'll have to read the series to see which are which. Don't miss this trilogy. It would be a shame.
This is one trilogy where each book builds on the preceding one, making this box set perfect because once you start reading these books you absolutely will want to read through to the end. The story is expertly told and filled with richly developed characters, action, political intrigue, natural disasters, and more twists and turns than I've seen in a very long time. This is a story I'll read again and highly recommend. I received a complimentary copy of this box set from the author. My review is honest and voluntary.
Everything about this series was unexpected. I was expecting a light hearty fantasy like Pier’s Anthony’s “On a Pale Horseâ€, but this turned out to be more thought provoking. The story first appears to be a simple storyline of second chances with the underlying struggle of good versus evil. Wrong! It is an intricate dance of humor, love, friendship, politics, prophetic references, with a dark overtone. Every time I thought I had figured out the plot, it twisted. By the third book, it was like riding a motorcycle down the “Tail of the Dragon†in North Carolina. Did I mention that Elisha the Prophet rides a motorcycle? Like the story line, the characters are complex and interesting. From the evil mob boss that wants to be magician, to Savta a holocaust survivor who is masterful negotiator and a cook for all seasons, the characters invoke strong emotions in the reader. Referencing Moshe’s tag line, this book “never quitsâ€. If you have not read this series, “you’re late†for an exciting roller-coaster journey.
This series has a bit of everything...romance, suspense, thriller, quirky humour and fantasy. It is fast-paced and engaging and really hard to put down.Well worth the read...more than once.
You will be glad that you bought all three so you can keep reading! An Unexpected Afterlife is wonderful, witty, and weird....and each book after is EVEN BETTER!!
