I am using this textbook for my Intro to Information Sciences and Systems course. completely agree with one of the other reviews that the chapters are a bit long with some overwhelming content for an "Intro" book. Some of the concepts are not explained well enough and I can see how a true beginner might struggle with this textbook. Some of the chapters the information seems to be needlessly crammed in (like chapter 3), it can be a slog to get through. I have the electronic version; the highlighting and search features are nice when you need to find something quickly. I wish I had a physical copy of the book, it could definitely serve as a good reference book in the future, at least for a few years before it's out of date. I give it 5 stars for content and 3 stars for readability.
This book is being used for my college MIS text. I purchased the digital copy through my campus bookstore - it was combined with another book and MindTap as one package deal. I wish I had a physical copy of the book, but after having purchased the package deal as required, I hate to spend another $100 for a used copy! The chapters are lengthy. There are graphics and images about every other page to help break up the text, but primarily there are very large chunks of text at a time. Currently I'm on chapter three. It has 52 pages of text with 68 key terms. It covers so much detail about so many different things, it could easily be broken down into three separate chapters. There is a one week turnaround on learning all this information for an exam, not enough time to fully take it all in and commit it to memory considering the lengthiness of the text and number of terms. This book is one of the most difficult to read texts I've encountered that deals directly with my major.
