About the Author
Born in Russia, FEODOR ROJANKOVSKY (1891-1970) immigrated to the United States in 1941. I purchased a few of these books to be used as party favors for a child's Bear themed party. I always hate it when you go to a party and you get those small junky party favors that you end up throwing in the trash a day later. I wanted to give the kids something they would truly use and keep. The illustrations are more of an old fashioned style which accompanies the era in which it was written in. I already own this book and have enjoyed reading it to my children because I remember my parents reading this book to me as a child.
FIRST off - I must admit that the product dimensions Are listed with the other product info! I bought this to replace a book in the Dr.'s office - the last page had been torn out and that just won't do! Anyway, the book in the office is about 10"w x 12" h and this one is just about 6-1/2"w x 8" h. Not a big deal, the artwork is nice enough and the story is the same, but you know how it is to read a book like this to a child - you hold one side, they hold the other and you read it together etc. there really is nothing like the larger format. This would be fine for a car trip or bedisde , but it missed the mark slightly for what I thought it was.
Very flimsy small book, looks like some one put it together at home. Besides that it gets the job done, my kid liked it but i wish I found a better version before I bought this one. I love reading books to my son and seeing his reaction and enthusiasm while listening to me read it to him. So I expect the book to be good in wording and pictures and also tell a story of meaning or a learning experience. So I would recommend to look for a better version before purchasing this one.
This was in my collection as a child and I shared it with my son and now I get to share it with my grand daughter. I buy two copies of these Little Golden Books, one for me and one to mail to her. She lives 1000 miles away and she loves to get mail and she loves to Skype. Then, I get to read the story to her as if we were together. The perfect way to keep us close!
Little Golden Books bring great stories to children of every generation. I ordered this book as a baby shower gift but I remember reading this to my son and every week when we went to the grocery story we bought a new Little Golden Book to read at bed time. I really love these books, all of them are great!
I had this book as a kid and loved it, so I decided to buy it for my son and daughter to read to them, I hope they love it as much as I did when I was little. I just loved the pictures in this book, and I hope as my two little ones get bigger and start school that they will love to read it as well.
Illustrations are good.The wording as you read the story,at times will not match the illustration on the page.If you are familiar with the Classic story, you will be disappointed.
Our toddler loves this! The illustrations are darling and the story is great. We do a different voice for each character which she loves. Now our daughter loves to flip through the pages and recite the parts she knows, as if she were reading to herself. So cute!
